Tupperware issues a collapse threat unless it secures funding

The American manufacturer of food storage containers Tupperware has issued a warning that, unless it can rapidly secure new funding, it may go out of business.

There is “serious question regarding its capacity to continue as a going concern,” according to the 77-year-old company.

Although Tupperware has been making an effort to rebrand itself to a younger audience, a decline in its sales has continued.

After losing over 50% on Monday, its shares only barely recovered on Tuesday.

As people hosted “Tupperware parties” in their homes to promote plastic food storage containers in the 1950s and 1960s, the company gained notoriety.
